The Braces Treatment Process

After Dr. Kandimalla has approved you for braces, you’ll come in for your initial appointment to have your braces applied. First, your teeth will be cleaned. Then, she will use a special dental cement to bond a metal bracket to each of your upper and lower teeth.

Afterward, metal bands will be applied to your molars, and a metal “archwire” will be run through the brackets and bands. Once these are in place, elastic bands are applied to each bracket to hold the archwire in place. Then, your braces will be adjusted for the first time to begin your treatment. The entire procedure usually takes between 1-2 hours and is done entirely at our Bolingbrook dentist office.

After your braces are attached, you’ll need to come into our office regularly for a quick oral exam so Dr. Kandimalla can adjust them and keep your treatment on track. Usually, you’ll come in every 4-6 weeks, but some patients may need to come into Innova Family Dental more frequently. This depends on your specific case.
