Remove Troublesome Teeth
Tooth Extractions in Bolingbrook
At Innova Family Dental, we always do our best to restore your smile and preserve your natural teeth. However, there are some cases where it may be preferable to extract your tooth, such as when a wisdom tooth is erupting improperly, or if an infected tooth can’t be saved with a root canal. We use the latest techniques and sedation to keep you feeling safe and comfortable throughout the extraction process.
Why Would I Need
A Tooth Extraction?
The most common reason for tooth extractions is problematic wisdom teeth. The wisdom teeth usually erupt between the ages of 17-25. Most of us do not have room for them to erupt properly, which can cause them to become impacted (not fully erupted). They may also grow in sideways and cause other complications which can damage your surrounding teeth or increase your risk of a dental abscess (infection). For these reasons, most patients choose to have their wisdom teeth extracted.
Tooth extractions may also be required to remove a tooth that has been damaged by extensive tooth decay, gum disease, or an oral injury. If the tooth cannot be saved using traditional dentistry techniques, it can be extracted and replaced with a partial denture, dental bridge, or dental implant.
Comfortable & Gentle
Tooth Extractions from Innova Family Dental
We use numbing and sedation to ensure that you do not feel any pain and discomfort during the tooth extraction process and to keep you feeling safe and calm. Once your mouth is numb and you have been sedated, Dr. Kandimalla will use a specialized dental tools to loosen your tooth in the socket. Once it’s loose, the tooth will be removed and the area will be disinfected and sutured shut. This usually takes only 5 minutes per tooth.
It’s important to take the appropriate care precautions to keep the socket healthy after recovering. This will ensure you avoid complications like dry socket. Dr. Kandimalla will provide you with a comprehensive set of aftercare instructions, so make sure that you follow them to keep your mouth healthy as you heal.
Impacted Wisdom Teeth
If you have an impacted (not fully erupted) wisdom tooth, the extraction procedure is slightly different. After your mouth is numbed, Dr. Kandimalla will begin by making an incision into your gum line near the tooth. Then, the tooth will be removed through this incision. Once the entire tooth has been removed, the area will be sutured shut.
